Peel Series: 2018-Present
The "Peel" series developed through my work with the "Mask" series. Through self-portraiture, I document the active ritual of peeling off a skincare mask. The ritual is both uncomfortable and satisfying, absurd and sometimes grotesque, but also seductive. A ritual of self-care can look and sometimes feel violent. This ambivalent, uniquely feminine space is what I hope to capture in "Peel."
